Home Office Politics

For a starting point, and in case you haven’t heard, the story of Sisyphus is about a man (or a demigod?) sentenced to eternally push a boulder up a hill only for it to come back down each day. It’s a well known tale that addresses futility, absurdity, and tedium. It poses some questions about the time we spend alive. In life though we have people we report to, family, friends, the bank, tax agents, time, insurance agents, bosses and video calls. Who is the manager in Sisyphus’s office? Who is there checking his hours each week, ensuring his progress and productivity? Who drops sandwich crumbs on her keyboard as she keeps him on track each day and makes sure the boulder gets to the top so it can come back down? What is the guy’s name who phones in at three to ensure he doesn’t clock out early? How does the person watching him park in the company lot take their coffee?
